About this tool

Why it exists.

Sometimes you need the words from a Word document without the formatting, or a clean HTML version for a website or email. Copying out of Word often brings along messy styles.

Open a .docx file and choose between plain text, HTML code or a rendered preview. Headings, bold and italic text, links, lists and tables are kept in simple, clean HTML. The file is read in your browser and is not uploaded.

How to use it.

  1. Open a .docx file.
  2. Choose plain text, HTML code or preview.
  3. Copy the result or download it.

Good questions.

Are images included?

No. Images, text boxes, headers, footers and comments are skipped. Only the main text content is converted.

Can I convert old .doc files?

Not directly. Open the file in Word or another editor and save it as .docx first.

Is the HTML safe to paste into a website?

The text is escaped and only web and email links are kept. As with any pasted HTML, review it before publishing.
