About this tool
Why it exists.
Copying text out of a PDF page by page is slow, and some PDFs refuse selection. This tool reads the text layer of the whole document and gives you one block of plain text.
Open a PDF, wait for the pages to be read and copy the result or download it as a .txt file. You can add a marker line before each page. Scanned PDFs are images with no text layer, so they need OCR, which this tool does not provide. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use it.
- Open a PDF.
- Wait while the pages are read.
- Copy the text or download it as a file.
Good questions.
Why is the result empty?
The PDF is probably a scan or a photo of pages, so it has no text to read. You would need OCR software for that.
Will tables and columns be preserved?
Not exactly. The text is read in the order the PDF stores it, so columns and tables are flattened into lines.
Is the text sent to a server?
No. The PDF is read by your browser and the text stays on your device.
