About this tool
Why it exists.
Cheques, contracts and formal documents often need an amount written in words as well as in figures, so it cannot be altered easily. Writing large numbers correctly takes care, especially with hyphens and the word and.
Type a number with up to 12 digits and 2 decimals and choose a currency. The tool shows the amount in words and in cheque style, such as the whole amount followed by a fraction over 100. It uses the short scale, where a billion is a thousand million. Check the wording against your bank's rules before you write a cheque.
How to use it.
- Type the number.
- Choose the currency or plain number.
- Copy the words or the cheque-style text.
